The LBJ Early College Career Launch Health Sciences Program is marketed to rising ninth-grade students interested in a career in the health care industry. Our program provides students the opportunities to explore careers in the health and science through partnerships with Austin Community College, and Seton Healthcare Family. This unique program allows students to earn their high school diploma and an Associate degree tuition free.
Learning that targets the future will take place in our modern classrooms and specially- designed laboratories that mirror the work environment. Opportunities to participate in college visits, Industry visits, mentoring, job shadowing, summer health camps and internship experiences.
Students interested in attending must complete an enrollment application that includes self-reported interests/activities, essays and letters of recommendation. Once a student’s application file is complete, a committee will meet to review the application. All students are invited to participate in an interview; however, an interview is not mandatory for admission. Once applications have been reviewed and interviews are complete, students will receive a letter indicating whether they have been accepted into the program.
Enclosed you will find enrollment material that will allow us to assess your qualifications and potential success in our growing enrollment programs. All information must be received before your enrollment packet can be processed and reviewed by a team of teachers. Your enrollment must be completed and in our office by 4:30 p.m. on February 18, 2019. Please only submit additional materials only the required forms.
Please follow the application check list instructions carefully. The enrollment checklist will help you organize your materials. Please fill out the enrollment form neatly and accurately and sign it along with parent or guardian. If you are a current AISD student, be sure to include your student ID number, found on your report card place ID number on all your submitted forms and essay. If you are not a current AISD student make sure you submit a copy of your most recent STAAR scores and report card. If you are coming from a school other than Texas public schools, please submit a copy of your most recent standardized test scores. You must have your teachers mail the completed recommendation forms from your enrollment packet.
If you come to LBJ ECHS to shadow and/or observe other students who are in Health Science Program you make take the TSI test during one of the class periods. You may also attend a Saturday TSI testing session at LBJ ECHS.
